01/22/2005: "New FireArrow Rally car build"

To have some fun and create an interesting twist to the Historic rally scene, I am building a 1980 Plymouth FireArrow. The beginnings of the project can be seen in the below. This brings us back full circle to the two Production Class ass whoopings over the factory teams in 1982 and 1983 in the SCCA Pro Rally Championship!

The project has begun at King Motorsports in New Berlin, WI in January 2005 which incidentially, was the home of the original rally car driven by Steve Nowicki!

This image is special. Pennsylvania mountains about 5:00AM. The sun *just* starting to show, and foggy as 'ell. Special ops needed for this mission. Kick some butt, take no prisioners, turn off the lights and drive the trees.susqtrbw (16k image)

We started at least one minute behing Randy Black, the Canadian rally champion driving his Nissan 160J open class car. Up the mountain, and it got foggy. We passed this guy with the 105 horsepower Plymouth Fire Arrow with our parking lights on. Woohoo! Once back down the hill, as shown here, the fog lifted, and we were caught. This picture effectively has co-driver Brian Berg and myself one minute ahead of the champ at an acute junction. It is memorable stuff from the 1982 SCCA ProRally championship. What more can I say?

Hi There, I have a 2.0 liter Mitsubishi engine that came out of a late 70s Fire Arrow Pro Rally car. Is complete from cam cover to pan, no induction system. Was pro built, has 10 or 11 to 1 comp. Was "good" motor for car. Car had a 2600 setup for street use in Colorado. Also have a set of mint Dunlop Tarmac Rally tires mounted on Colt / Arrow rims. Motor is to put out 140 hp, but never got to reinstall in car. Has been inside cover storage. If interested, please let me know. Also have misc rally parts as well.Glad to see you are having fun with the car. Very sincerly, Chris
